Logging Workshop

On January 9, 2020, the District hosted an "Erosion and Sedimentation Control in our Forests" Workshop at the Cobblestone Inn in Punxsutawney.  This workshop for Foresters, Loggers and Contractors offered SFI Continuing Education Credits. 

Presenters from Bureau of Forestry, PA Fish and Boat Commission, Armstrong Conservation District, Clarion Conservation District and the Jefferson Conservation District provided attendees with a wide variety of information about E&S Plans, E&S BMPs, Chapter 105 Regulations, Invasive Plant Species & Ticks, Fish and Boat Regulations and Insects & Forest Health.   

Alicia Ramsey discussed why Erosion & Sedimentation should be controlled.
Holly Laird discussed how common logging problems are handled.
Megan Whitlatch explained how to identify Invasive Plant Species.
Becky Gaston informed attendees what the role of a conservation district is.
Attendees received alot of beneficial information at this workshop.
Dana Grabowski explained what information should be in an E&S Plan.
Dakota Raab from the PA Fish and Boat Commission explained regulations.
Forester Jessica Pierce, DCNR, educated participants about Insects and Forest Health.
