Sustainability Fair

A Sustainability Fair was held at Clear Creek State Park on Wednesday, August 7, 2019.  Attendees had the opportunity to learn about green technology, sustainable business and how to support local farming.  The event offered a first-hand look at solar generators, a hybrid vehicle as well as activities for children and youth to ask questions about careers in the sustainability field.

Becky Gaston represented the District.  She used the groundwater flow model to demonstrate the many contaminants that can get into our springs, wells, streams and groundwater.

Presentations were provided on recycling, organic foods, sustainable dairy farming, smoothie making,  worm composting, and wind turbines.  Literature was also available on the Wildlife in Need Emergency Response of PA program, spotted lanternfly, tick bites and lyme disease.  It was a wonderful, educational day for all ages.
