The Jefferson Conservation District hosted a workshop for the farming community on Thursday, March 15, 2018.  State regulations require farmers to have written plans that address soil and manure management.  Megan Whitlatch, Nutrient Management Specialist at the Conservation District, explained these requirements.

These local farmers learned the difference between a Manure Management Plan, a Nutrient Management Plan and an Agricultural Erosion & Sedimentation Control Plan.  They were then able to determine which plan would address their farms' needs.

Attendees were shown what information is required to complete their own plan and how they can produce a map of their farms.  Farmers may contact the District if they would like assistance determining which plan they may need or help completing their plans.
