Mahaffey Camp
Chris Hughes, Laryssa Remmick, Becky Gaston, and Jenna Biggie of the Jefferson County Conservation District visited the Mahaffey Camp & Conference Center on Friday, December 15th to teach homeschoolers about seasonal cycles. The programs taught included: the science behind making ice cream, hibernation/adaptation/migration, and snowmelt. The students had the opportunity to make their own ice cream, experience how animals build fat for hibernation, and observe different rainfall scenarios using a stormwater simulation table.
