High School Tri-County Envirothon Jefferson, Clarion, and Forest Counties

We held the Tri-County (Clarion-Jefferson-Forest) High School Envirothon at Clear Creek State Park. 14 teams from 7 different high schools: 6 teams from Clarion County from Union, Redbank Valley, and North Clarion high schools (Keystone participated noncompetitively), 2 teams from Forest County competed from West Forest high school, and 5 teams from Jefferson County competed from Brockway and Brookville high schools.  Brockway-1 won first place. First place winners were as follows: Eric Mowrey, Kendra Jones, Dominic Carlini, Landon Proper, and Ben Fremer. Brockway-1 also had the highest overall scores in forestry and wildlife and Brockway-2 had the highest score in the Current Issue. The teacher advisor for Brockway High School is Matt Holt.  Second place was awarded to North Clarion-1 and they will be representing Clarion County at the state competition in May. Second place winners were as follows: Jack Maxwell, Emma Kosminski, Paige Hetrick, Gwen Griebel, and Myia Hetrick. North Clarion-1 also had the highest overall score for Aquatics. The teacher advisor for North Clarion High School is Kayla DeLong.  Third place was awarded to West Forest-1 consisting of the following winners: Esther Forker, Bobby Payne, and Kiarra Wagner. West Forest-1 will represent Forest County at the state competition in May. The teacher advisor for West Forest High School is Fritz Brown.  Union High School had the highest overall score in soils. The teacher advisor for Union High School is Brianna Lauer.  The Clarion Conservation District, Forest County Conservation District, DEP, DCNR Bureau of Forestry, PA Fish & Boat Commission, and PA Game Commission assisted at the event. Local elected officials helped hand out awards at the event this year, they were: Braxton White (Clarion County Commissioner), Wayne Brocious (Clarion County Commissioner)  Penny Pifer (Representative from Senator Dush’s office),  Mark Kingston (Forest County Commissioner), Mark Humes (Jefferson County Commissioner), and Dianne Porter (Representative from Senator Hutchinson’s office).
